About Me

I was born in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, have lived in Chile, the UK, France, India and now, I call Barcelona (Catalonia), Spain, home.

📕I’m the author of Nandi in KwaZulu, a children’s story book, window into the playtime for Nandi and her friends in rural KwaZulu.

🧒I’m the proud mother of three bright stars.

🏠I’m also a teacher, and from the Admissions office of an amazing international school in Barcelona, I accompany families on their path to find a place of nurturing and learning for their children.

👑I love parenting, children, taking loooooong walks, yoga, baking cakes, car trips, dreaming, learning, healthy conversation, being with family and friends, storytelling, singing gospel.

🙏Daily, my intention is to be a good role model/parent and be the best version of myself.

MEMORIES

My earliest memories are happy memories of my family and friends in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, where I had a lot of fun!

PLAY AND PASTIMES

I absolutely loved school and when school was out, I continued to have lots of fun with my friends at home.

I vividly remember eating mangoes off the trees, playing dolly house and running around like crazy, playing hide-and-seek and cops and robbers!

When alone, I loved to escape into books and loved to retire to a world of make-believe where absolutely anything was possible.

My whole family read avidly and devoured books regularly.

I hope that children, all over, will read story books, dream and discover amazing stories that thrill and excite them.

MY UPBRINGING

I’m an only child but grew up with my darling cousin, Cheryl, who is in essence, my sister.  We lived in our extended family with my gran as the super matriarch who took excellent care of my grandfather and her entire family.  Bless her beautiful soul!

ROLE MODELS

My mother, Joyce Hudson, has always encouraged me to fulfil my dreams, and her sister, my Aunt Marge, taught me that with dedication and work, you can achieve your dreams.

My uncles Raymond and Leon gave me protection and love.

NOWADAYS

I love to spend time with my family and friends and I love learning.

My favourite food is roti and curry and I love cakes.

I believe it’s very important to have an attitude of gratitude and to focus on what we have rather than on what we don’t.  I also firmly believe that we must empower our children to believe in themselves.
